Indian food has been inspired by various civilizations and is a perfect blend of various cultures and ages. Foods of India are better known for its spiciness. Throughout India, be it North India or South India, spices are used generously in food and every single spice carries some or the other nutritional as well as medicinal properties.
One of the most important and frequently used spice that can be found in nearly every kitchen across the vast cultures, traditions and religions of India and now across much of the world is Haldi (Turmeric).
Haldi is a natural spice, dried and grounded down into a fine powder. In the kitchen, it is used in a variety of concoctions; from curries to even desserts.
In ancient India, it has been used for its medicinal compounds called curcuminoids, curcumin being the most important. Curcumin has anti-inflammatory effects and is very rich in antioxidants.
